Rare species - very rapid growing, White powdered canes give off beautiful blue hue (very prized) Fast cane producer. Has done extremely well here in Central Florida. Some of my clumps are tight while others are quite diffuse (sometimes one foot or more between culms). Highly recommended. Seems to tolerate some shade. Culms tend to arch at top.

Giant tropical that produces many thick walled arching or erect tough culms with long branches.Good for construction material.  If a large hedge is needed, this is the one!  Branches everywhere! Has done extremely well here in Central Florida. Makes huge impenetrable hedge. Gnarly branches, hence name dragon's nest. Had to move it away from my house as it was growing so rapidly.

Beautiful yellow canes w/pronounced green stripe on alternate internodes. Truly one of the best looking bamboos.  (newer introduction). This is my pick for the best privacy hedge as it tends to retain many lower branches. Doing real well. One of my top 5 favorites. A nice medium sized fast cane producer with a slightly diffuse habit. New shoots appear reddish. Canes smooth to the touch. Contrasting colors on canes are well defined. Some leaves are veriegated with white stripes. My first planting was in the Fall of 2002.

Choice ornamental Beautiful black culms w/green stripes. Straight, Leafless lower culms. One of the best looking bamboos! May do well in some micro-climates in Central Florida. I had some specimens do far better than others in different parts of my yard. Most lost all leaves at 27 degrees but came back nicely.

Erect rapid growing, Spectacular tall hedge, Delicious shoots  Moderate salt tolerance. This is the large bamboo found in most of Florida’s theme parks. Another of my top 5 bamboos for the area. Fast growing and tall, this one has it all. The largest bamboo that will grow without cold worries in Central Florida with up to 5" diameter canes. If I could only have one bamboo variety in this area....this would be the one!

Highly variegated, extremely attractive. Small leaves, straight canes. A must for collectors! Fast cane producer!! Another of my top 5 picks. Due to its cold hardiness, Central Florida's answer to B. vulgaris 'vittata'. Branches low for nice large screen or easily trimmed to show off gorgeous canes.

Bambusa sp 'Richard Waldron'

This bamboo was introduced to the area by a friend of mine who has since passed away. Richard was the area's bamboo authority and will be missed by many. No one has been able to identify this particular species and it is named in his memory. The bamboo is a very tight clumper that hasn't reached 10 feet in the two and a half years it has been in the ground here. It is very erect with many small canes. This could be used for any type of screen or tight hedge. It is a very attractive addition to the bamboo world. Bamboo had no problem with 26 degrees.
